REFINE YOUR COPPERPLATE

Taken a few introductory classes, but not sure where to go next?  This is the class!  I will work with you at the level you're at, plus address a few common overall difficulties that we all struggled with.  Whatever your level, as long as you know the basics, you're very welcome to come and give your Copperplate a bit of a polish with me.

We will be working on refining your script to get you a few steps up from where you're at.  I'll spend time talking about on ovals, parallel shades, and connectors - or other elements that you're struggling with.  We'll talk about difficult letters (like the lowercase s!) and how to balance your shades and flourishes to create a polished and professional script.

All my classes are very hands-on - you'll have your pen in your hand 90% of the time.  We only have a few precious hours and I don't like to waste them by lecturing - in this Refine class, I prefer to see where you are at before I start telling you where to go next.

This class is for those who have some experience with a pointed pen - or for those who have just completed the morning class!

We will hit the ground running in the expectation that everyone knows how to use their pen and understands, more or less, the basic strokes.  (It's fine if your first class was the morning class on the same day, but it's also fine if you haven't done copperplate in years and just want to brush up!)

If you have any questions or need personal attention to your script, this is the place for it!

Bring your own supplies if you have them!  I will have some stock of nibs, paper and ink on hand that you can purchase, but I am anticipating that most people with an interest in this course will already have their preferred tools (and of course, if you have attended the morning class, you will have everything you need.)

However each participant will also be provided with a few goodies, including

  • Selection of nibs, vintage and modern

  • Good quality practice paper

  • Exemplars and resource lists

This workshop runs from 2.00pm to 5pm.  Please be on time - we have a lot to cover and we won't be able to run late.

Please note:  Refunds and cancellations are not possible! However, if you can't attend, you can certainly transfer your enrolment to another person.  You will need to negotiate with them directly and advise me of the change. If you can't transfer your membership, you can of course still pick up the kit - just let me know.

If you have any questions or are a bit unsure, please contact me before you enrol!
